Community Service on Saturday, November 22, 2008

Members of the William Tucker Society, along with some guests, went to Project Open Hand to prepare Thanksgiving Dinner for sick, elderly, and shut-in people. The members who attended: Robert S. Alexander (President), Tyler Dawson (Treasurer), Darius Malone (Rec. Secretary), and Eric Archer II (Comm. Serv. Chair). The experience was very uplifting. We look forward to going again, sometime next semester, and hopefully, there will be more members in attendance next time.

The emails, surprisingly, began to flow in shortly after midnight and President-elect Barack Obama’s speech at Grant Park. I had told my students at Morehouse College that we would have an electronic class in lieu of our Wednesday classes. They would have to email me their reactions to our historic election by midnight Wednesday (within twenty-four hours after Tuesdays election night) come what may.

I gave them one mandate: Keep it real.

In that first wave of emails, one steady refrain stood out-I'm proud to be a
black man.

New Logo

I was researching getting shirts, and all of the companies I submitted our logo to said that it would turn out horrible if we tried to transfer it to any kind of fabric. They suggested something much simpler. So here is what I have come up with. Let me know what you all think...after a while, I'm just going to submit it to the companies for review without your input. So if you want input, please let me know what you think, and if you would like, submit your own designs by emailing me at williamtuckersociety@gmail.com.
